Michigan Messing Around

About a month ago I shot a friend's wedding in Chicago and on the way back stopped and visited my grandparents and the rest of my dad's family. One day Jenny and I met up with my aunt to go blueberry picking. We managed to pick about 15 pounds of blueberries...just a weee bit more than we probably needed.

The last few pictures are in my grandpa's garden. The light was coming down so beautifully that I ran and got Jenny and made her go run into the corn. It's the price you pay to be with me.

My apologies to all 14 of my followers. So sorry Mom. Sorry Megan. Sorry Nathan, Julie and Lucy. Sorry Tiffany. Sorry Kristen. Sorry Nairobi, by the way who are you? Sorry Jenn with two n's. Sorry Brittnie with no y. Sorry Rob. Sorry Matthew. Sorry Sean. Sorry Tawn. Sorry Kaylene. Sorry it's been over a month since I've posted.

Posts are on there way though, starting with this one from Birdsboro PA. A old quarry converted into a little climbing nook.

I went with ole Ben, Ann, Angela and Brian and we got our sport climbing on. Fun times, some smores and lots of manly grunting.

Zofie Forgive ME!

It's been several weeks now since I took pictures of my friend Zofie. I'm sure she hoped to see these pictures weeks ago and has long since given up hope. But trips to Florida and Kentucky got in the way. Please reserve hate Zofie, here they are.

Zofie has a hobby of buying vintage clothing and she looks a bit vintage herself I think, so I took her to a local diner and a tiny fireman's fair at a church to shoot some pictures. My girlfriend Jenny met up with us and I got a great picture of her right before a carney kicked her and Zofie off the merry-go-round for riding side saddle. Surprising that a carney was both concerned about safety and against the indecent exposure that was bound to ensue.

Where The Blue Grass Grows

Went down yonder to Kentucky this past week for climbing and hanging with the girlfriend's friends. Got to go to a bluegrass festival up near Moorehead KY and too pictures at the festival and a few around town.

I always enjoy going to Kentucky for some reason. Going to rural Kentucky is something akin to going back in time a little bit. Things are simpler, slower, grittier and less pretentious. I always feel like an outsider there and I don't think that's a mistake. People look at you, speak to you and think of you as an outsider. That being said there is a refreshing hospitality that is usually given to you. People give you the time of day, they want to talk, they want to know if you're enjoying yourself.

Not sure whether or not I'll ever do a large series of work in Kentucky, I kind of doubt it. It seems like the sort of place where you'd really need to "be from around here" to be able to take photos that would do the place justice. Even if I don't ever get to photograph the "REAL" Kentucky, I'll enjoy these in the meantime.
